Daytower Gate is a gate location in Horizon Zero Dawn adjacent to the Carja outpost of Daytower. The guy boasting about his success at the Hunting Grounds in Mother’s Crown doesn’t mention that, however. Granted, the bandit camps are tied into their own mini-narrative with Nil, and multiple people simply can’t shut up about the Hunting Grounds, but these lead into another story mission which is worth the hassle. After all, the only Tallneck-related quest you ever get, apart from the occasional “my focus is picking up some kind of signal” (and, well, To Curse The Darkness), is the repair task in Frozen Wilds. I was rather surprised there was actually a quest (likely labelled as errand, but so is Collateral, and how is that an errand?) tied to the Cauldrons, since I’d somehow always assumed you just stumbled over them and stuck your spear into it because that’s the way of the game, and these Cauldrons are just another kind of activity. But unlike Balahn, Zaid had been an active participant in the Red Raids, commanding a unit that had frequently invaded the Sacred Lands, and raided Nora settlements. The outpost was also the station of prefect Zaid, another Carja captain. He instructed Balahn to ensure the respectful treatment of the Nora by the Carja military, a task which Balahn performed conscientiously and willingly. The outpost was most frequently used for the transshipment of captured Nora.Īfter the Red Raids ceased due to the overthrow of their instigator, the 13th Sun-King Jiran, his successor Avad appointed Balahn, a Carja captain, as the commander of the outpost. Ohtur, one of the three quest-givers for Into the Frozen Wilds, can be found in Daytower, as long as neither of the other two have been spoken to already. When Aloy is made a Seeker and tasked with traveling to Meridian, she discovers that the gate leading to the outpost is closed on Captain Balahn's orders following the spread of corrupted machines through the Sacred Lands.
